The ultimative Tour of Germany 2003
3500 km in two weeks with a Ford Fiesta and my honey :)
Finally, after one long year of waiting, my honey and me were meeting again. This time not in her, but in my home country to pass our vacations (for personal pics use the link downside). Hard to believe, but although I was living since 23 years in Germany, I couldn’t tell that I ever really passed my vacation there! Thus it was the right time to go on a tour of two weeks, mostly by car and along the beautiful German freeways without speedlimit :) I picked up my honey from Frankfurt Airport, which is already quite familiar to me, since I’ve been there the fifth time within the last two years! We were also going downtown to watch the famous skyline of the great bank quarter and to be at the place where our money comes from (distance for the day: 600 km). After staying a few days in my home town, the next tour came up which lead us to the fairy tale castles Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau, so beautiful that it is hard to describe and to believe that people were able to built something like this almost 150 years ago! It’s definetely a must see for a german tourist including the fascinating view of the bavarian mountain panorama. Going the way back to home, we also stopped in the city of Wiesbaden, near to Frankfurt, which increased the whole distance of this trip to 1600 km within three days. That’s also why we took train to go to the German capital Berlin and visit the Brandenburg Gate, the glass dome of the Reichstag and having a seat in a height of exactly 207,53 m in a café on top of the Television Tower. Being at the mountains the week before, we also went to the German coast of the Baltic Sea near by Eckernfoerde. It’s not quite the same than Miami South Beach, but definitively not as far away, for two days altogether just about 700 km. Like always, time was running much too fast, two weeks flew away and we had to go to the last trip of this vacation back to Frankfurt Airport. I never expected to pass such an interesting, but also relaxing vacation in Germany. I always thought that other countries would offer much more to see, but for sure it is not the way it is and if someone will have the possibility to go over there, he or she should take the chance without hesitation. Auf Wiedersehen! :)
